For an AdsPower proxy setup, create a new profile, open its Proxy section, pick SOCKS5 and enter the host, port, login and password of your proxy. Then run the connection check and save.
Every Elusive proxy comes as HOST:PORT:USER:PASS, so you already have all four values. AdsPower lets you paste them in one go.
The setup takes about five minutes. The checks after it matter just as much, so don't skip them.
Key takeaways
- Elusive proxies are SOCKS5 with a login and password. In AdsPower, pick SOCKS5 as the type.
- Paste HOST:PORT:USER:PASS into the Host:Port field, run the proxy check, then save.
- Set timezone and language to follow the proxy's IP, then run a DNS and WebRTC check in the profile.
- Use one profile per proxy, and don't share a proxy between profiles of different accounts.
What you need
You need an AdsPower account and one proxy from the Elusive catalog. In the dashboard, copy the proxy as HOST:PORT:USER:PASS.
Which type to pick depends on the job. Sticky residential proxies use IPs of real home connections and suit most account work. Mobile proxies use 4G/5G carrier IPs. Hosting proxies are the fastest and cheapest but carry the least trust on consumer platforms. Our guide on which proxy fits which job goes through the rest.
A sticky proxy keeps its IP up to 24 hours. It runs on a real device, so it can drop earlier. Plan one-day tasks around that.
How to add a SOCKS5 proxy to AdsPower
AdsPower's own help center describes this flow. Menu labels can change between versions, so if yours looks slightly different, look for the same fields.
- Click New profile on the Profiles page and give the profile a name.
- Find the Proxy section and choose the Custom option.
- Set the proxy type to SOCKS5. AdsPower also offers HTTP, HTTPS and SSH. Don't pick those, because Elusive proxies only work as SOCKS5.
- Paste HOST:PORT:USER:PASS into the Host:Port field. AdsPower's help page says the other fields fill in on their own. If they don't, type host, port, username and password into their fields by hand.
- Click Check proxy.
- Click OK to create the profile, then open it from the Profiles page.
If you rent several proxies, repeat the steps with a new profile for each one.
Check the connection
A passed test only means AdsPower reached the proxy. Open a page that shows your IP from inside the profile and compare it with what the dashboard lists. The country, and the city if you picked one, should match. Sites use different geo databases, so a small difference in the city is normal. More on that in our post on why a proxy shows a different location.
Make timezone and language follow the proxy
A profile with a US proxy and a German system clock looks odd, and platforms may ask you to verify the login. AdsPower's fingerprint settings have timezone and language options. Both usually offer a Based on IP choice, which means the profile follows the proxy's location. Use that choice if your version has it, or set them by hand to match the proxy's country.
Geolocation and the rest of the match are covered step by step in match timezone to proxy.
Run a leak check in the profile
Open the profile and test from inside it, not from your normal browser. Run a DNS leak check and a WebRTC leak test.
You want to see the proxy's IP and no trace of your own network. If WebRTC shows your real IP, change the WebRTC option in the profile's fingerprint settings and test again. AdsPower offers several WebRTC modes. We can't tell you one best choice for every setup, so test each result.
One profile per proxy
Give each account its own profile and its own proxy. A steady IP and location for each account keeps logins consistent, so the platform's security checks have less reason to step in.
For a task that lasts a day, a sticky residential proxy is enough. For an account you keep for weeks, plan to replace the proxy when it expires and update that one profile. A proxy does not make anything against a platform's terms acceptable. Follow each platform's rules, and use its own team tools where they exist.
Common errors
- Wrong proxy type. HTTP or HTTPS selected instead of SOCKS5. The check fails or hangs. Switch the type to SOCKS5.
- Copy-paste spaces. A space or line break at the start or end of the pasted string breaks the login. Paste again and check the fields.
- Expired sticky proxy. A sticky IP lasts up to 24 hours. If a profile that worked yesterday fails today, check the proxy in your dashboard.
- Proxy offline. The device behind a residential or mobile proxy can be switched off. Try the check again later, or test it from the dashboard.
A sticky proxy can be refunded to your balance in its first hour, if a live test of it fails. If a fresh proxy fails right away, write to our support on Telegram.
FAQ
Can AdsPower use an Elusive proxy with a password?
Yes. Enter the username and password in the profile's proxy fields, or paste the full HOST:PORT:USER:PASS string.
Why does Check proxy fail?
Most often the type is wrong (HTTP instead of SOCKS5), the pasted text has a stray space, or the sticky proxy has run out. Fix those first.
Can two profiles share one proxy?
You can, but don't do it for accounts you keep. Use one proxy per profile so each account keeps its own IP and location.
Do I need to restart the profile after changing the proxy?
Close the profile, save the new proxy, and open it again. Then repeat the IP and leak checks.
